Do you charge for parents to watch?

No, parents are always welcome to watch their children skate. We are happy to have you here.

If my friends are coming skating, do I need to pay if I’m only going to watch?

Yes. Everyone who comes with the exception of parents/grandparents watching their children/grandchildren skate is required to pay admission and put skates on. This helps to prevent loitering and the problems that go with it.

What size skates do you rent?

From Juvenile size 8 to Adult size 15.

Do you rent Inline skates?

Yes, our inline rentals are available from juvenile size 12 through adult size 15.

May I use my own skates?

Yes, with some exceptions. Skates may not have black toe/heel stops. If there is a place for a toe/heel stop, there must be a serviceable stop present. There must be no protruding metal parts present. We reserve the right to refuse personal skates not meeting our standards.

Do you sell skates and equipment?

Yes, we sell skates. We also have a pro shop with a limited number of skates and we have a catalog for you to look at. Normally, if you order skates they arrive within a few days.

What goes on at a public skating session?

In addition to regular all skate, there are a number of special skates such as four corners, backwards, Hokey Pokey, partner skate, and Cha Cha Slide among others.

If my child doesn’t skate well, may I walk on the skating floor with him/her?

No. During public skating sessions, only people with skates on may be on the skating floor. You may walk them around the concourse or the snack bar to get them used to their skates.

How old does my child have to be to skate?

There is no age limit. We have rental skates as small as a Toddler’s size 8

When is the best time for a beginner to skate?

It’s usually best to come to a slower session. From October to May we have a Beginner’s Session from 10am-Noon. Our Wednesday Session is also usually a slower session.

Do you give lessons?

We do not have public lessons. If you would like private lessons, contact the manager.

What forms of payment do you allow?

We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card.

Can I pay with a check?

Sorry, we do not accept personal checks.

Do you sell food?

Yes, we have a snack bar that sells a variety of items including hot dogs, Nachos, pretzels, chips, candy, and ice cream novelties. We also carry Pepsi products, Slushies, juices and water.

Can I bring food in from the outside?

The only food/drinks we allow to be brought in from the outside is a birthday cake with a party reservation for one of our Birthday Party Plans.

Do you sell alcohol?

We do not sell it nor do we allow it. Anyone under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the premises.

Do you have video games?

Yes. If you need change for the video machines, you may get that at the snack bar.

Do you donate to non-profit organizations.

Yes. Skate Country donates goods and services to numerous non-profit organizations. Please put your request in writing on the organization letterhead 1-3 months before the event. Shorter notice is possible but there is no guarantee. Please send or drop off your request to Skate Country – Attn: Kerry, 5630 Saratoga Road, Asbury, Iowa 52002.

Do you sell Gift Certificates?

Yes, we have gift certificates available in $5, $10, and $25 denominations. They make great gifts for many occasions. You may purchase them at the office or call to make arrangements.

Do you have a monthly or yearly pass?

Yes. We have both individual and family annual passes. During the summer months we have a summer pass available.

Do you have a dress code?

Yes. Clothes must be appropriate. No white undershirts, no obscene words or gestures. No hats allowed on the skating floor. Skate Country management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone not meeting out dress standards.
